Taking this 3-unit course requires students to complete 48 hours of community service in addition to the regular COMM 157SL coursework.

• Does COMM 157SL apply towards the COMM Applied Activity requirement?

• Can I do something besides 157SL to fulfill the COMM Applied Activity requirement?
  • 是的.There are several different options for completing the COMM 198 requirement, with COMM 157SL being just 一个 option. 
• How many hours of community service do 157SL students complete?
  • All 157SL students must complete 48 hours of service over the semester.
• Which sites do 157SL students serve at?
  • All 157SL students will be placed at 一个 of our vetted partner sites. 在任何给定情况下 semester, there will be between 3-6 partner sites to choose from.  所有157SL合伙人 sites are located within a few miles of 菠菜网lol正规平台 和 serve community members within the 附近.
• Do I have to serve at a 157SL partner site?
  • 是的. All 157SL students must serve at 一个 of our 157SL partner sites. 在餐厅服务 non-157SL site is not an option.
• What if I really want to do community service at a non-157SL site?
  • If you want to do community service at a non-157SL site, 和 you wish to earn course 信用(我.e. units) for that service, then consider doing it as part of another academic 程序，如 通讯实习计划.
• I see that COMM 157SL runs from 3:00-5:45 PM. Do I have be in class for that whole 期?
  • 是的. All students enrolled in 157SL are expected to be in class for the entire 期. Missing all or even part of a class session will negatively impact a student's 年级. This is because in-class sessions involve activities that count towards the final 年级.  If you have scheduling constraints that you know will prevent you from attending class sessions, then it's best not to enroll in 157SL.
• I have scheduling constraints that will make it hard for me be in the 157SL class 每周会话. 我该怎么办??
  • Missing all or even part of a class session will negatively impact a student's 年级. This is because in-class sessions involve activities that count towards the 最终成绩.  If you have scheduling constraints that you know will prevent you from attending class sessions, then it's best not to enroll in 157SL.
• Can I take COMM 157SL during Summer or Winter semester?
  • No. 157SL is offered in Fall 和 Spring only.
